“Safer Space” Workshops for a #SafeStampede

Night clubs, music venues and other organizations can play a big role in creating a #SafeStampede for all.  In partnership with the Calgary Sexual Health Centre, the Society for the Advocacy of Safer Spaces is coordinating Safer Space workshops for management and staff of music venues, theatres,  galleries, and other organizations within the arts community.

Workshops take on topics such as active consent, responding to disclosures, and how to be an active bystander. Participants in these workshops can expect to leave with tools to address conflict, clarify boundaries, and understand the role that bystanders can play.

Organizations and venues who have completed the workshops and have committed in writing to following the SASS Guidelines will be awarded the SASS Gold Seal, which they may display in their establishment. This Gold Seal signifies to patrons that management and staff are accountable to the safety of their space.
